Man Utd legend Eric Cantona: I love Jose Mourinho but one thing annoys me | Football | Sport

Jose Mourinho started life well in his first season in charge at Manchester United, winning the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

Things have continued where they left off this time around too with the Red Devils second in the Premier League table.

But despite United getting results, the former Chelsea boss has come in for criticism for his tactics and style of play.

Pundits and fans have accused Mourinho of ‘parking the bus’ and Cantona is not a fan of sometimes watching his former team.

“Mourinho is going to win a lot with United, but I prefer a more creative game, which is why I loved playing for United,” he told FullTimeDEVILS.

“I love Mourinho, but I prefer a more offensive game because it’s United.”

“It’s like Barcelona, if Barça played defensively, nobody would understand.

“In United that philosophy is very strong and now it’s a bit difficult to understand, but I think Mourinho will win things with them.”

Despite Cantona’s praise of Mourinho, United suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Basel last night in the Champions League.

And another former Red Devil, Rio Ferdinand, wasn’t impressed with the display.

“It’s what you wouldn’t really associate with a Jose Mourinho team – and that’s lacking professionalism,” Ferdinand said.

“I think second half they lacked that discipline.

“How many times, wave after wave of attack getting beyond the Manchester United midfield – it just wasn’t good enough second half.”
